On a recent visit to the American Southwest, I first encountered the region of the Prescott National Forest in Northern Arizona.  I was immediately struck by the scenic beauty of the place.  Powerful mountains form a distant backdrop to a seemingly endless forest of sage bush.  This unspoiled “high desert” also brings a palpable sense of isolation.  This piece is a musical collection of descriptive adjectives: 'noble, beautiful, expansive, lonely, powerful.'
