Anthony L. Pasquarelli, The Boss, was for many years the most-sought-after free-lance trumpeter in Pittsburgh. His versatility and depth of experience are attested to by the many groups with which he has played first trumpet, including the Civic Light Opera, Ice Capades, Ice Follies, staff orchestras of radio and television stations in the city, and the orchestras of the Nixon, Penn, and Stanley Theaters. He has played under such conductors as William Steinberg, André Kostelanetz, Karl Fritz and Richard Karp, and has performed numerous times with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Grand Opera Company, and the Pittsburgh Sinfonietta. His teaching abilities are also well known, and he served on the Carnegie Mellon faculty from 1957 to 2004. He is responsible for training such outstanding professional trumpeters including: Mark Schrello, Solo Trumpet of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra; Dennis Ferry, Solo Trumpet with L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (Geneva, Swizterland); Charles Metzger, First Trumpet with the San Francisco Ballet; and a number of the cornetists of the River City Brass Band.
